Powerwall 3 Will Soon Be Compatible With Powerwall 2
With an upcoming software update, homeowners can soon add Powerwall 3 to their Powerwall 2 system and enjoy:
- Expanded home energy storage
- Extended backup during outages
- Reduced electricity bills
Supported configurations will include up to:
- 4x Powerwall 2 units,
- 1x Powerwall 3 unit and
- 3x Powerwall 3 expansion units
When installing on a three-phase grid connection, Powerwall 3 output will be limited to 5kW. Gateway 1 and Neurio Meter are not supported. Please work with your Tesla Certified Installer to appropriately size, configure or upgrade your system.
Rebates & Incentives
Once the update is available, homeowners may also be eligible for:
- Powerwall 3 and Powerwall 3 expansion units, with discounts provided under the Cheaper Home Batteries Program.
- Up to AUD $1,500 back with Tesla’s Virtual Visa® Reward Card offer when you order Powerwall 3 or Powerwall 3 expansion units by March 31, 2026, and install by September 30, 2026.
